The devastating mass shooting in Las Vegas recently was the deadliest mass shooting in American history. Typically, in situations like this, we quickly find out all the important information about the shooter and the motive in a few days. In this case, it’s been a month and we don’t have a clue why Stephen Paddock did what he did.
There are plenty of theories. Some people think he was drugged up on medications. Some people think ISIS was involved. Some believe it was a false flag operation. Some think he was a deranged Trump hater. There are a million theories. None of them are able to be confirmed at this point and it looks like this guy had basically no digital footprint.
Some new information broke today and it’s going to do nothing but intensify the conspiracy theories.
Check out what we learned about Paddock’s computer.
From ABC News:
A laptop computer recovered from the Las Vegas hotel room where Stephen Paddock launched the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history was missing its hard drive, depriving investigators of a potential key source of information on why he killed and maimed so many people, ABC News has learned.
Paddock is believed to have removed the hard drive before fatally shooting himself, and the missing device has not yet been recovered, sources told ABC News.
Investigators digging into Paddock’s background also learned he purchased software designed to erase files from a hard drive, but without the hard drive to examine it is impossible to know if he ever used the software, one source said.
Obviously, that’s going to have some answers on it. However, odds are he destroyed it right?
Clearly, he went to great lengths to hide his motive.
We do know that this guy wasn’t playing with a full deck based on what he did and the reports of how he acted.
One thing is for sure. The guy loved to gamble.
From New York Post:
At the height of his wagering in 2006, Padock testified, “”I averaged 14 hours a day, 365 days a year,” according to documents obtained by CNN.
“I’ll gamble all night … I sleep during the day.”
Asked if he ever visited the hotel pool, he answered: “I do not do sun.”
Asking rhetorically how he knew he was the biggest video poker player, he answered: “Because I know some of the video poker players that play big. Nobody played as much and as long as I did.”
A lawyer asked how much he could end up betting on a given night.
“A million dollars,” Paddock replied.
“That’s a lot of money,” the lawyer said.
“No, it’s not,” Paddock said.
Some other strange news broke today about the Paddock family.
It looks like Paddock’s younger brother, not the one who did all the interviews, was arrested for child porn.
From Los Angeles Times:
A brother of Las Vegas mass shooter Stephen Paddock has reportedly been detained in North Hollywood on suspicion of crimes related to child pornography.
Bruce Paddock, 58, was taken into custody in North Hollywood on Wednesday morning, according to a source who was not authorized to speak publicly about the case and requested anonymity.
